Directing - Film pre-production

For this project for our Director's unit, my main struggle was choosing my location and finding the props.

Location:
For my location, I decided to use my grandad's house as the house looks between a mix of modern and old, something which the house within the film shows. This location is also away from the main road and very quiet as there are no children in the area - perfect for this time of film where the house is supposed to be secluded.

I also obtained permission from my grandad to use his house for the whole day, as, even though he is a family member, I still need permission, and like the last project, this permission request was also signed electronically.

Call sheet:
For my call sheet, this will be sent out to crew and cast within the next few days. The call time has been made 10:00 AM for everyone so everyone gets to set an hour early which will allow us to run through a quick blocking session with the actors before shooting, as well as giving Katie and Fabio (my leads) the time to have special effects makeup put on.

I am only planning to shoot it in a day as, not only is it cost effective as its only one cost of travel, but there are two sections of my chosen piece - night and day - so it would be easier to film both sections on the same day as we will be filming throughout.

Cast:
For my cast, I posted a job advert on Mandy.com - a site that Simon recommended to us. Within a day of posting the job, I had received two applications, one for each of the female Strangers (Baby Doll and Pin-up Girl), I quickly said yes to each lady and they were quick to respond to my email regarding their excitement of the project and their willingness to join.

However, my male roles were much harder to find, and, as of posting this, I currently only have one of my male roles filled and only two days left to find an actor for the Man in the Mask.

Another actress I have for this film, Katie, is one of my old school friends. While I know the brief was to use professional actresses, no one else had applied for the role f Kristen so I reached out to her and asked if she would love to be in it, in which she said yes to. She has been in several 'performances' when we were in secondary school and she can easily fit herself to suit a character.

Baby Doll:

Pin-up Girl:
James Hoyt:

Shot list:
For my shot list, I have noted down each shot in order of where they are in the script. This will make it clearer to myself and my crew what kinds of shots I want and when they will happen.

Storyboard:
My storyboard shall be put up here within the next few days.
